Rick Bailey
Rick Bailey graduated from MacArthur High School in 2004. Throughout his tenure as a student at MacArthur High School, Rick Bailey became one of the most beloved and respected individuals to ever walk the school’s hallways. Bailey was a 3-sport athlete; He was a member of the football, basketball and Baseball teams. He was not just a member of these teams; he was one of the most talented players on each of these teams. He led his teammates both on and off the field as an example of what it means to be a student-athlete and a friend. Aside from being an incredible
athlete, Bailey was a great friend to everyone. He was always able to make you laugh and was seldom caught without a smile on his face. His robust personality has left alasting impression on all who were lucky enough to have known him.
On October 20th, 2008, Rick Bailey was a victim of a violent crime in Albany, New York. He was attending the University at Albany, where he was ready to graduate that coming December and would have become a police officer. Bailey was taken away from a world that he loved for no good reason by people who never valued life the way that he did. The death of Rick Bailey shattered the hearts of several communities. He was so deeply loved by his friends and family at home in the Levittown-Wantagh area where he had grown up, as well as by those at the University at Albany where Bailey was a student for 3 years. In the tragic event of Rick’s death, he left one final gift to the world; He was a registered organ donor, and through this tragedy Bailey was still able to help save the lives of several people. Rick Bailey has greatly impacted the lives of everyone he has met and even impacted the lives of some people who were not lucky enough to have met him. Rick Bailey will live on forever in the hearts of us all and will continue to smile down upon usuntil we meet again.
